INTERGRATED REHABILITATION CENTRE FOR ADDICTS [IRCA]

CARE

IRCA is a modest attempt by the government of India through its ministry of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT to fight against the addiction and provide rehabilitation services. CARE was picked up by the ministry to join this campaign 15 years ago with the allotment of 15 bedded in-house treatment centres. In all these years CARE has helped 100’s of men with a rare few women to kick up their habit of addiction and to lead a sober life benefitting their families and communities.

The treatment last for 3-4 weeks starting with detoxification which lasts for 3 or 4 days followed by treatment of other health problems, if any. The actual treatment starts with medication, diet, counselling, lecture classes, individuals and group therapies and family counselling. The community living and sharing experiences with other patients help them to understand their problem further. The environment prevalent in the centre gradually prepares them to leave the habit of drinking and opt for a sober life.

CARE runs two IRCA’s, one at Erode and other one in Namakkal.
